Toulon is (roughly halfway) between Marseille and Nice, although the Marseille airport is somewhat inland from the Mediterranean Sea. It's an industrial and port city. East of Toulon begins the pretty part of the French Riviera, which stretches along the coast to Nice and a bit beyond to Monaco at the Italian border.
