Flying to Eastern Europe for a 60th birthday gift. Chose the Delta 744 due to the chance to fly the upper deck BE or D1. Paid a premium to do so and have concerns about the airline proclivity to change equipment. I have very fond memories about flying on the 747 way back in the late 70s with the First Class lounge and all that that represents. I know that no longer exists but would love to fly on the UD.

My question is.... Do I have a "real" option to change back to the 744 if they choose to change the equipment? (ie. 767, 777, 330) My dates are flexible so would not be a problem to do that.

I am a Delta Platinum Medallion on a paid ticket (z class) but not a full flexible fare. I have been reading this blog and know the airlines pretty much have my money and probably care less as long as I'm in their "paid ticket" bank.

I have chosen upper deck seats 77A out and 73A on the return. Those seats seem to be the best according to this site. If you have flown this equipment and have a preference on seating, would love to hear it.

Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
