So I am trying to use a Chase Anniversary certificate in STL online and all the properties seem to charge some taxes upto $40. I looked at hotels in DFW and LAX and same deal though not as high. Are taxes being charged when using the certificate? The website does not list any taxes when making the same reservation using point. In my past points stays, I don't remember it being charged.

Something changed?
