Canada seems to have done a bit of a half arsed approach to EMV. When I'm in Canada about 25% of my transactions are still swipe and about another 10% are swiped because they don't take Amex via the chip.
As noted though, I wasn't referring to Canadian ones. He made a false assumption, as did I likely - I would've expected that Canadian IHOP is all chip, so I thought referring to the US in the USA thread was clear.
I'm shocked 25% of Canadian is swipe, that certainly isn't my experience in Canada.
