My family and I will be taking several Austrian Airlines flights in May between Amsterdam, Vienna, Prague and Dubrovnik. We plan to do carry on only, and we know that our main bags meet the size limit (we're working on ensuring we meet the weight limit, as well).

Our potential problem is with our "personal item." We all have the Tom Bihn Night Flight, which we like very much as a personal item for a trip like this. Its dimensions are 17" x 10" x 9”. Austrian Airlines personal item limit is 16” x 12” x 4”. The Night Flight is very "squishable" and we wouldn't stuff them to the limit of their size.

Does anyone have experience with how strict Austrian is with the personal item carry on? Thanks in advance for your help.
