Aren't these the same thing at the airport? Yes, the Award holder is not trying to upgrade, but is standing by for a J seat to open. But those J seat are also allocated to those waiting to upgrade. Then it's a question of who gets priority. My recollection, over a number of years, was that the award holder used to have the highest priority for these seats, now it's the lowest priority. What I'm not sure of, and what Ben's post doesn't refer to, is whether an SE on an Award has a high priority than an E50 on a Flex.[/i]
