Somehow, on a recent 55 minute flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui (A319) the crew managed to serve drinks, followed by a hot meal, followed by tea/coffee.
Crew levels seemed to be pretty much the same as my BA flight from AMS-LHR earlier that day. They were just very efficient.
