I fly about 80-90 direct segments a year out of ATL. 95% are 1K roundtrip. I will never hit DM again unless I go back to flying offshore but that's not in the foreseeable future. I figured out that if I move to AA I can connect through CLT and double my segments and hit AA Executive status in about 7 months - with lower fares to boot. If I stay with DL, I will remain in PM hell forever. I appealed to DL without any luck. So, I am taking my $50K in business to AA. I was really looking forward to hitting 2MM but it is not to be.
