I was in 53A last month on an overnighter with an excellent crew and to be honest I didn't really hear much at all from the Galley. I didn't have earpulgs in.
I have excellent hearing so I reckon if you are tired enough you ill drift off easily and more so with a pair in. Here is one of my tips:
You could try
Counting Sheep to try and get to sleep but I count my Teir Points and usually fall asleep well before I get to about 129.
