There are two additional perks

V (economy) inventory turns into award space for Golds. Not much use for longhaul, potentially very useful for RFS or domestic connections as V is a reasonable way up the fare ladder
Gold Priority award which is double miles to unlock space solely for a full award booking in any cabin. 30 day limit on booking IIRC
