Virgin's indifference to Silver Cards has tested my loyalty to Delta - but Delta's fare quotes for LHR > ATL remain consistently better than those from BA for the same route. Also, unlike BA, Delta do not charge for selecting your seat at the time of purchase. Which leads to Virgin - who do charge £25/$38 for seat selection - even if your booking is made on the Delta website!

I have also noticed that upgrades on Delta US domestic flights seem to be much rarer now as a Silver Card holder. I share your experiences with Virgin on-line check in for LHR flights, and interaction at the airport itself.

Virgin's generally positive media image is bolstered by their big advertising spend, and Branson's genius for self-aggrandising publicity. In actuality, their service is very indifferent, whether on their planes or UK train franchises. God help their future space travelers, and cruise line customers!
