Hi all, apologies if I am not doing this in the correct thread, but I was wondering what you all thought of this.
I am trying to book an aeroplan flight for YYZ->LHR and noticed something strange.
When I booked for 1 person, there's availability for business class and the carrier surcharges are $382.
Meanwhile, when I book for 1 person for economy for the same flight, the carrier surcharge is $188.
I looked for some random date for a business vs economy award flight to Tokyo HND, and they both have the same surcharges. Another random future date search for YYZ->LHR shows the same discrepancy of having business class cost 2x as much in fees.
Is this something new, or is there something about LHR that is unique?
It costs AC more fuel to fly you in J than Y. You take up more real estate, so the fuel surcharge of that surcharge is higher. However, $382 seems far too little...what Altitude status are you?
