International DM Prem boarding: smoother?

I'm mostly an international flyer, about half J, half Y (depends on who's paying!). Sky priority boarding never worked well in my experience because it seemed like half the plane was zone Sky (really, not just because of gate lice). Boarding BE was never a problem because GAs waited until BE passengers cleared before the calling Sky, which of course initiates the stampede. Will fly NRT>DTW in a few days. In theory, DM boarding with BE (sorry, DeltaOne) should make the process smoother. It should shrink the numbers in zone Sky and therefore reduce the chaos for PM/GM. For BE passengers, it shouldn't make a difference because Y DMs would move back quickly as the aisle clears or use the alternative economy ramp on certain gates. As with many changes, unintended negative consequences can pop up in practice. Just wondering what your experience has been.
