Probably very dumb question...

A friend attempted to initiate a transfer to BA yesterday. He texts me today and says the Starpoints have yet to be removed from his account and is worried he may not have completed the process. Even though it takes time for the avios to post to BA, the Starpoints themselves should have been removed from his SPG account instantaneously, correct?

Edited: Nevermind. At least in this case, he didn't complete the initiation process.
