Would be great for some/many if true, only thing is; last I heard, I heard quite different-- heard it was definitely not coming back as it was.

There was consideration being given to soft-landing to *some* members based on the obvious criteria (profitability and/or those who come extremely close to making status and are also deemed very profitable)-- and they did play a little bit with that this year as quite a few members got renewed with specific note of "revenue contribution" http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24067484-post162.html

But my firm opinion is that "soft landings for everyone!" don't make sense and will not be coming back.
