I'm pretty sure everybody is in favour of the crew having their own space where they can eat, talk and rest in peace and not be bothered by us. It would also make it clear who is actually working and who is not.
But that's not the reality on most planes where to remain competitive every spare inch of space is used. I would like a decent lavatory as well, but the trend is to make them smaller and smaller and squeeze in an extra seat or two. Wouldn't make much sense to make a "crew cantine" that's used for an hour eacht flight. So separated by a curtain is what the crew gets and needs to live with. Having passengers outside that area should also be accepted not discouraged.
