I've found HKG to be usually slow. You walk a fair way from the AC gate to immigration, can wait a long time to clear immigration, especially if a whole bunch of a/c have landed at the same time, and then have to walk to the very far end of the luggage hall (belt #9 IIRC?) and still wait some more for your suitcase to come out onto the belt.
I guess I don't mind this (because you are waiting to clear immigration) as much as YYZ, where you whip through the eye-scan, get to the belt, and then have to stand around forever doing nothing but watching endless reruns of last night's CBC News.
