And now that the morning haze has receded, simple google searches reveal that AC either employs baggage handlers, or has a happy habit of terminating the jobs of airport employees.
Air Canada spokeswoman Angela Mah says in an email the “totally unacceptable” incident took place at Toronto’s Pearson Airport that day.
She says the actions “clearly contravened” the airline’s baggage-handling rules.
Mah says the airline is trying to identify the baggage handler and the person –quote — “will be terminated pending the outcome of our investigation.”

And then there's these folk who have an interesting job description:
"When I work in the Baggage area, I could be loading containers, open carts or cube carts with baggage while ensuring that the right bag goes on the right flight. On some aircraft types, I need to get into the cargo hold and manually load the bags onto the aircraft"

And the gem from MacLeans "the evil genius of airlines" article (Google it) that suggests that GTAA has done something to rectify the conveyor belt system - it apparently delivers bags over 16 km in 8.5 minutes.
I don't know who the thumbs down and rolls eyes were directed at: GTAA or myself, but I trust you'll redirect it at the appropriate entity instead of putting the blame on the wrong organization.
