I have a bit of a tight situation, and am looking for some advice. I just booked an unexpected trip to China for departure in mid-May.
Unfortunately I am traveling internationally, departing on 4/1, and am only back for 1 week between the 2 trips. On the first trip, I will be stopping in Hong Kong, but I will be there from 4/3-8, it appears that the only day in that entire time that is not a Hong Kong holiday is 4/8 (departure day) - I have a night time departure, so I would have that entire day. My Chinese Consulate office is San Francisco.
So, I'm looking for advice on the following:
- Since it is impossible for me to go to San Francisco between now and 4/1 to process the Visa in person, does anyone have an agency that they recommend?
- Is it realistic that I would have my passport back before 4/1? Obviously a delay would significantly interrupt my other travel plans.
- Is it even possible to consider applying in person in Hong Kong during my stop there? (considering most of that time is during government holidays).
- During my 1 week back in the US, I have to be in Chicago for a couple of days, would I have any luck with a rush in person application in Chicago?
