You keep saying this, but I am curious whether you have a reason, or it is just wishful thinking? I thought that someone else posted the definition and it required "payment" before the regulations applied. For an "on hold" reservation there hasn't been payment. I UNDERSTAND your argument that on other airlines you could have paid and still get your money back for 24 hours. But just because AA uses the alternative plan (which works well for me, and many others, who would rather have 24 hours to decide before our credit card is charged, 99.9% of the time), how does that make "on hold" the same as "purchased"? What if the airline intentionally waited 48 hours to announce their decision, by which time all the people who relied on 24 hours refund couldn't get a refund?
