We have a reservation in Vanuatu for the beginning of May and have r/t tickets on FJ from NAN to VLI. The HI Resort is severely damaged and advised that the possibility of them being open again in May is slim to none. I am trying to have FJ cancel and refund the ticket but they are unwilling to do so. Are there any options? All calls are routed to their Fiji offices and they have a rather laid back attitude. They told me they don't have a supervisor, so I cannot escalate the call. Help would be greatly appreciated.
It sounds like your fare is non-refundable.
This is what travel insurance is for. Do you have it? (It is too late to be covered for this by buying a new policy now - it will be excluded as a known event.)
Otherwise you could ask FJ if they could use the fare paid as a credit towards rebooking another destination (check what penalty/fee will apply) to at least get some value out of the ticket.
