How do they decide which gate to bus pax from?
Flew out of T5 at the end of last week. Gate was posted an hour before departure as B36 but got there to find no plane.
As far as I can see there's nothing special about B36 - we went down an industrial staircase then walked around 40m on the tarmac before getting on the bus.
The bus then went North up the West side of the B pier, then all the way back down the East side. Off into the 'tunnel' service road before reemerging at the C pier. All the way up the West side, all the way back down the East side before dropping us off at the plane. From Google Earth I think it was stand 568.
So, why not just bus people from the A pier, and if it was because the gates were too busy, why not bus us from a gate on the East side of the C pier?
Other than boarding from B37, 38 or 39, I don't believe they could have given us a longer bus ride to a T5 stand.
