I confirm as well. In the past 4 years, I had no problem booking business class award seats from BKK to ZRH during Christmas/New Year's time as long as I booked them 8-9 months in advance. Now all seats are booked and most flight are closed for waiting list....

Had to book Swiss Airlines with extra miles and got lucky!
