Of course AA is going to be more expensive out of DFW. They fly non-stop, and many people are willing to pay more for a non-stop than a connection, even in today's climate. Maybe not as much as before, but there is still a hub premium.

Look at LAS-LAX. AA is cheaper than UA or HP published fares.
