Yes I just did this on the 5th of March.
But the agent messed up and didn't put all the information in the reservation of the second ticket but I did a quick tweet to AA with wifi on the plane and gave them my connecting flight and they made sure I had a seat on the next flight and then CX in HKG got the ticket finalized when I landed.
Had to be the easiest rebooking ever! I can only imagine that the process would have been more streamlined had all the information been on my ticket.
