I (almost) never manage to get a boarding pass in the AA app ex EU because they want to check the physical passport. It is unlikely you will be able to check in in LHR. I would rather skip the last flight than have to confess at the counter. If you have any previous questionable activities in your AAdvantage account it may be suspended. Search in these forums for JonNYC and PM him for advice.
