FWIW Vanessa Noel Hotel is a step down from both the White Elephant and the Wauwinet. It's location is tough to beat however as it is in the middle of town. White Elephant is an easy 5-10 minute walk, but does boast some nice harbor views. The Wauwinet is about a 20 minute drive out of town and a bit remote - that being said it's spectacularly beautiful and has the best onsite dining option of the three. There is a boat that can take you into town (slower than the drive), but be warned that if the weather does not cooperate it can be a bit choppy for those not accustomed to being on the water.

Thanks for that information. We usually like to be able to step out the front door of our hotel and find something going on. I am willing to accept a bit lower level accommodations in return for a bit more action.
