There are a few large gecko-related species (they almost look like komodo dragons!) around. They are harmless. You're in the tropics after all...
The one we first came across, it was on our way to the Amanusa villas site visit. We nearly ran over it but the car screeched to a halt just in time.
After our site visit we went for a massage, came back to our suite after and I was taking a nice bath, when I saw the gecko swimming laps (!!!) in the koi fish pond that surrounds the bathroom.
The gecko must be thinking "Sweet! I have a private pool!"
2 visits the same day...one in the bathroom... we can really feel the love
