Thought I would update you with the outcome. When I got to check in my upgrades were still pending. I asked if I could have a skycouch as she offered to upgrade me for $395 then I asked if it was free for *G at check in. Was directed to ticketing who also had not heard of that perk before. I wasn't sure if it extended to the 777-200 routes. Anyhow he blocked the middle seat for myself and my companion. Upon entering the lounge the staff said they can confirm my upgrade to premium economy and leave my seat blocked so my companion could have a sky couch. Was really light loads and was very grateful. Worked out really well.
