I don't think the pilots wanting a comfortable and feasible uniform to include their other requests makes them "whiners". As an aviator myself, I can attest that an uncomfortable uniform that doesn't suit flexibility in an aircraft is not unreasonable. Nothing in their requests is "whining" nor extravagant.

Secondly, I was talking about AA. As for the UA bit - I guess you never ate their food.
