Another reason is that fares out of other areas, e.g. the US or India, while I class probably still has an advance purchase, it will permit changes, unlike the I fares ex-UK. Someone looking to change their return may be able to book I class close to departure, even when 'I' wouldn't be able to be sold to a new customer.
