Yes, that might be risky. What you should do is call the Palazzo, not IHG, and have them change the reservation to reflect your wife's CC info. I wouldn't push the whole AMB thing until you get to the hotel and can speak to someone face to face, and not involve IHG.
From personal experience I've noticed that when you're on the phone inquiring about AMB/RA benefits, they conference an IHG rep in to the phone call. That might raise a red flag regarding the CC issue.
