It happened last month, on the way from LHR to HKG, when we get to our seats, my other half realised he left his ipad in the lounge. We speak to the nearby flight crew member, he immediately put a call to the lounge and within 10 mins while we are still loading, I got a call on my phone and said they found it and will keep it at lost and found until my return to London. And shortly before take off, the CSD came over with all the contact details of L&F. Now that's good service and hughly positive in my book.
They charge a fee of £20 when you collect that item from the lost property office. Now that's poor service and rather negative in my book.
(I think the fee is waived for Golds but for everyone else, ouch)
