Recommendations re Hoi An (Vietnam) beach resorts?
My wife and I plan to visit Hoi An, Vietnam for about five or six nights in February or March 2016. I've just started to climb the learning curve about the area, but realize no one place to stay would be likely to have everything we'd ideally want. Still, any help on recommendations regarding which places might fit much of the following list would be really appreciated:
1. A location on a pleasant, clean beach, preferably one where we can take nice long walks.
2. Walking distance to Hoi An old town, or biking distance as a second choice. (I realize that this might be incompatible with #1 and that taxis are pretty cheap, but thought I'd ask anyway.)
3. Especially if town is not close by, we'd like a place from which we can walk to good nearby restaurants (preferably on the beach) so as to not feel too isolated in the hotel (and also because we find outside restaurants in much of Southeast Asia are often cheaper and better than hotel food). Being close to shops and/or a fishing village would also be great.
4. A beachside smaller hotel or even a beachside guest house (if there are any) with more of a local feel would be nice.
5. Budget would be up to about $150/night, though we'd certainly be glad to pay less and for a really special place would consider more.
6. Finally, is it better to be in Hoi An in February (after Tet) or March, or no real difference?
Again, I realize that trade-offs would likely be necessary. But thanks for any help!
