I did think, Smid, of playing the same programme at the same time but decided the sync issues (esp. with toddler attention spans) would be too much!

VS's own headphones are the type that require a second jack for power. I use my own Bose's with their own power and one standard jack on VS and have done on all of the aircraft type for years.
Yes, get a splitter and you'll be fine but use your own headphones.
