No tricks because it doesn't happen. In all my years as either Gold or Platinum, I got a complimentary upgrade once since the Y cabin was oversold and they needed my seat. But that was seriously once many years ago. It just doesn't happen. You want F, fork out the $$$$ for stickers and you'll get your F class seat if available.
