In the case of a plane substitution Delta is very much aware they are not delivering DeltaOne to customers that paid a lot of extra $$. It would be nice if Delta would engage with these people before they get on the plane. Takes away (at least some of ) the frustration/disappointment/anger.
Sure thing, because Delta/gate agents have all the time in the world to let these customers know that they won't have their lie-flat seats, since they have nothing else to worry about during a plane swap.
What is the big deal? Contact Delta and get a refund, probably some miles on top of that. Move on
