Thanks all for the information, i stayed in Ao Nang last year at the end of August and although it rained a bit it was actually quite nice.
JP1981 that hotel looks amazing, i also just found Sunrise Tropical Resort which looks to be very close to the hotel you suggested. Both have good prices and refundable for their better rooms.

As for flights were only flying from Saigon which isnt far but trying to be money conscious as we have a home to buy early next year.
