Depending on where you are and how many days you are spending in one place, it may be better to just have trousers made by a tailor--it can be quite cheap and fast. Trousers are not typical womens' wear in India, so you will have to go to more Westernized shops (in shopping malls, mostly) to find them, and you might not find your size. Going to a tailor will probably be more efficient, more fun, and end up with a better fit!
