Not likely but not impossible, I've seen schedule changes myself where customers accepted a new flight and then called back a little later to try and get something better that wasn't there before. Easier to do when a new flight hasn't been accepted yet.
Is it the case that when a flight is cancelled and you don't accept the rebooked alternative, that it gives you more flexibility?

I do wonder because I had some recent flights cancelled and didn't accept the alternatives (because ba.com was playing up). A few days later I was sent an e-mail from my customer service centre in Bratislava, confirming my booking on the new flights. When I phoned up to change one of them (which wasn't suitable as I'd be flying on another itinerary) they first told me that it wasn't possible to change as I'd agreed to the new flights, which of course I hadn't. After checking they did change it for free.

I am a little peeved because because I feel that my hand was forced a little. What happens if similar flights to the original ones are rescheduled? With 2 months still to go I'm now I'm stuck with flights that are not ideal.
