How many miles?
If the goal is to transfer the miles, there is no way around the share miles fee except by death or divorce. I believe there is a minor fee for divorce related transfers.
As noted by someone else, you can save up to 30 percent currently
6K-25K is 20 percent. 26K-50K is 30 percent

As noted by someone else, if the friend has at least enough for a one way award, then he could just get an award in your name. Another option is to transfer miles to the account that needs the fewest miles for an award.
For example, if you need 25000 for a one way award and he has 20K, then you could transfer 5K to his account and he could get the award in your name. That would cost a lot less than transferring the 20K to your account.
