Had another recent stay at the Langham - I love this hotel... If I can't get the Ritz Picadilly, then the Langham is my next pick. The service from the staff was again terrific - I was AGAIN (yes, how does that happen?!?) out of currency when I arrived from Paddington and the cabbie wouldn't take U.S. currency, so the bellman insisted on paying my cab fare, would not take my money (U.S. $) and told me not to worry about it (of course, I paid him back as soon as I could - but where do you find such gracious hospitality in the U.S.??) The rooms were beautifully appointed and comfortable as ever - and quiet. I was able to take a very nice afternoon nap without hearing any street noise. I just love the quiet, calm ambience of this hotel.

Dinner at the Roux restaurant was a crowd pleaser and wowed us - with a group of foodies who have collectively dined at over 150 Michelin rated restaurants, every single person in our party raved that this was easily one of the best meals they've had in the world at its price point. The food was even better than I had remembered it - we did the tasting menu and it did not disappoint. If we had to rank the food across all the restaurants we have dined at around the world, this one would be #2 (#1 for us would be Per Se), but if our group had to rank it on both food and value among Michelin-quality peers, this one would be our #1 pick. This is a hidden gem - we can't wait to go back again.
