I think your assumption is probably right. In my visits here I always reserve dinners in advance and no one ever asks me at any point if I need dinner reservations. Stayed once at the Park Hyatt as well and they are more subtle in asking us "what our plans were for the day" which would sometimes lead to informing us of activities or dinner options available that day. If you would ask questions or express interest in an item they would proceed to ask you if you needed a reservation. Still pretty much the same sales pitch but didn't feel as much in your face as it was more indirect.
