Hopefully the refresh starting this year will target these planes first!
However, what really needs changing in YVR is the staff. Never, ever, I have met staff as ignorant, arrogant and plainly uninterested in doing their job at any BA station, including BUD whose staffers have seemingly been hired from a prison. In one case, full flex Y ticket in hand, I was asking to move to the earlier flight (having arrived 2 hours before that one) only to be told to do it myself. In another my carry-on was labelled with the yellow tag despite me being in 40E, a bulkhead seat. When I politely inquired under which seat I should be putting it the man said "The one in-front-of-you, capisce?" (A remark that, had I been inclined to, I could've considered as racist given that I'm Italian). Abundant eye-rolling and hissing ensued.
In both cases what I assume was the BA station manager or duty manager was standing there and didn't bother taking any action at all.
I am surprised that you have had problems with the staff as I have always found them very polite and helpful, as for labelling your handbaggage it doesn't make any difference where you are seated the second piece should always have a yellow label attached.
