For me, I just want to see something like this show up on my phone or AC website after I log into my booking:-

You are currently booked in economy class.

There are currently 4 empty business class seats available.
You are number 6 in the upgrade queue.

Great news! Your flight is currently available for an immediate upgrade. Purchase a last minute upgrade for $320 by clicking here.

Thank you for flying with Air Canada. We look forward to welcoming you on board.

Great post. For the record, AC already has this information.

When I really care about clearing an eupgrade, I always go to the MLL (at YYZ in most cases). I politely ask the lounge dragons where I am on the list (I use OLCI often), and they can tell me if I should drink heavily at the lounge or that they are pretty sure I will clear the upgrade at the gate. Once actually at SEA too, I asked during check in and they said Mr. SAP you are #1 on the list! (was waitlisted)

All they need to do is make this info available via a mobile app as suggested.
