3 nights at The Ritz San Juan last week and they were fully booked and busy yet managed timely & courteous service though the property. Check in was quick and easy even thought one of the 2 rooms wasn't ready the staff gave us our first room and we used it to change and go to the beach to start our sun and fun. The 2nd room was ready approx 30 minutes later and they delivered the key to me on the pool deck. Service at the ocean bar was friendly and the next few days we ordered drinks and food from the staff around the pool and never waited more than 15 minutes for completion.
Dinner at BLT was solid and snacks and drinks in the lobby started poorly as a large group had swamped the staff and initially overwhelmed those on station, 20 minutes later 5 more servers appeared and quickly handled the situation offering apologies and a few free drinks as well to all tables.
The rooms are worn and the carpets in the hallways are showing the traffic, I have read the complaints about dirty windows ( no doubt the result of ocean proximity) and the property could do better in these area's.
Staff was friendly and showed themselves eager to engage and fulfill requests without hesitation which is a Ritz Hallmark - I will stay there again.
