I do it today and I did it when in college. BOS-LHR was (and still is) really low cost on weekends. Get out of class (BU) at 4:30pm, take the books/homework and a backpack *only* (no checked bags), hop on AA at 8:30pm (AA108 overnight) to LHR. Get there in the morning, go to the Internet Cafe, shop, and more! Get to the hotel at check-in, buy food, watch the BBC drink, sleep (and sleep well), back on the return on Sunday (AA109), do the Computer Science homework on the plane, arrive 2:20pm, get hassled by US Customs BOS, because I have no checked backs and am the first one out. When proven I'm legal and legit, back home, sleep, back to school 8:30am for Japanese class. Those were the days!
Miles: 3300 x 4 (AA Plat) = 13200 + 1000 (AA bonus) + 5000 (AA Trans-Atlantic Bonus) = 19200 miles for $250.00. Do it three times with the increase in the Trans Atlantic bonus:
$750 + vouchers for price changes = 72600 miles!! I did that two (2) times (once as Gold and the one posted as Platinum).
Today, the Transatlantic (and Transpacific) bonus is NOT systemwide + no more free booze. But those were the days!

Compared to some of the crap I did in college, this sounds like the healthiest thing in the world.
