I believe super-mileage-fan is referring to Delta Platinum Medallion status, not American Express Platinum cards. I believe Centurion means that those who receive Delta Platinum Medallion status via Centurion must fly 8 Delta segments before they can select a Delta Choice benefit, but I am not a Delta flyer and may have misunderstood.
