Fairmont Washington, DC
I booked the Fairmont DC on priceline Name Your Own Price for a total of $240 a night after taxes and fees for two nights. I arrived on a sunday morning just after 11am via taxi from Washington Union Station. A bellman opened the door of my cab and beckoned me into the property. At checkin, I was surprised to find my room ready as it was 2 hours before checkin. I was assigned room 544, a king room overlooking M Street. The room had a king bed, a desk and chair, and 2 arm chairs with leg rests. There was a night table on both sides each with a lamp on them. One had a phone and the other had an iHome. There was also a big screen TV on the dresser. There was a Keurig machine with 4 K-Cups, 2 bold and 2 decaf, and hot water heater as well as 4 Fairmont branded tea bags. There was also cream, sugar and sweetener. The room had a mini bar with alcohol and some snacks, all very overpriced as to be expected. The bathroom had a nice vanity with a rain shower head. There were Fairmont branded robes hanging both in the bathroom and the main room closet. Bathroom amenities were Le Labo Rose 31. On the whole, the property was very nice as well as the room and perfectly adequate for my needs. It should also be noted that the Starbucks across the street opens at 6am.
On the final afternoon of my stay, I went down to the lobby bar for a drink before I left. I had the Bee-Tini, the hotel's signature cocktail using fresh honey syrup from the hotel's bee colony, tequila, vodka, and lemon juice. It was $12 ($13.20 after tax) and quite good. It was served with a bowl of mixed nuts and pretzels. Service was very friendly and efficient.
A few complaints:
Wifi was free as a presidents club member, but very spotty when it actually worked.
The second morning of my stay, about about 625am, I needed a cab but none were in sight. I asked the front desk agent to call me one and he told me to wait ten minutes. He then proceeded to stand around and do nothing. I thought it was rude and unprofessional.
The second day of my stay, my room was cleaned and the bathroom amenities were restocked, except, oddly, for the soap.
