I am attempting to book some award travel this morning and after selecting seats and confirming payment I got an error that the booking could not be completed. I went to try again and the same 32,500 redemption seats had jumped to 37,500 per person, which made me think it did take my booking. Sure enough, my account shows the flights and record locator #, yet the seats I selected (all preferred seats in Y as I'm just a lowly Silver) are not listed and I am not able to choose any preferred seats until after 24 hours, according to the error I get. Also, no points have been deducted from the account yet.
I tried calling in but due to the weather there is a 3+ hour wait...has anyone encountered anything similar? I guess for now I'll just wait it out, I just hate a reservation being in limbo as I'm trying to plan other travel around these flights.
It just means that you got far enough along to put the itinerary on hold. You can either let it expire or call in to have it ticketed.
I've had this happen before, and cannot remember how long the itinerary remains on hold. It's not more than a day.
